Visions Full Movie

Visions Full Movie

This is our final outcome of our movie.

Preliminary Exercise Evaluation

The Courier

The courier is our third short film we had made and we had based it on Jordan being the dealer and myself being the boss who wants to buy the something valuable from him. however i didn't have enough money so i was about to get more money, but Jordan takes the money and the item so me and Hassan who is my guard try and find him, we have checked most of the rooms so we come to the last couple of rooms and we have entered  the last room so we checked and we find him and then myself and Hassan had left him on the floor and took the items and the money.

We had included all of the editing techniques expect for one which was eye line match. Because our short film didn't have to use the eye line match.

In this shot you see Jordan walking to the room which has the door open so that he is coming into my office and we can see that he is not important but the bag hat he is holding is the most important part of the film. Plus we had used match on action. This shot also links with the middle shot because as he is walked in the room we see Jordan walking in the room.

This shot is called match on action these two shots
are in the top and the middle screenshots  shows that Jordan entering the room as it shows that he has entered the room at a different angle but we had used the match on action.

This shot is called shot reverse shot, this shot is normal used in conversation, however we used it in this on scene. Furthermore it also shows that me an Jordan are going to have a conversation about the item.

This shot is when Jordan had asked me if i had the right money so we had used the shot reverse shot to show that we had used in a conversation and to show that it is mostly used in conversation.

This shot is also called 180 degree. This shot is 180 degree because before Jordan had sat down we see the 180 degree because we track when Jordan was walking to sit down, then t goes to when he starts to sit down.

We had used these techniques accurately but we could have improved them a bit better because we did keep on jogging the camera when we were moving the camera. We did make a couple of mistakes in the film by making it jump in the film when we editing it also the camera was in different types positions so it would make the film different because we didn't use the same position so it would
interfere with the film.  We would improve this mistakes by making sure that it stays in the same position and making sure that it would look right in the film.

The positive things we had done was the match on action because we had got that first time and it looked good with the film. Furthermore we had done the 180 degree good because the camera was not shaking or jogging as it moved smoothly. The improvements that we can make in this film is that we can use the camera a bit better and make less mistakes also we ca improve our editing a bit more.

Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

How does your thriller hold the audience attention?

We make our audience pay attention by making sure that we add different styles of editing such as dissolves and fades to make sure that the audience stay focused but nit make them bored at the same time, so we had added visions which he keeps on happening through the middle part of the film. In addition as there are normal moments it shows short clips of the visions which pop up and make the audience wonder what is going on. To include the audience also have to figure out what is going on in the film so they have to think a little bit to see what is going to happen, furthermore it also keeps the audience attention at the end when the big secret comes out and to see who the boss was and what happens to the kidnapper. Additionally we have used the same aged actors in this film so they will be likely to watch the film, furthermore the audience will be attracted to this film because as we are the same age it will give a good dynamic view on what the film will be about and how it well the movie is done from a younger generation of actors.

Why would they watch our film?

They would watch our film because our film is dynamic and provides a better way of showing what happens. Additionally they will also watch this film because it requires certain knowledge and has a big ending which can cause confusion so the audience have to think about what is happening in the film. In addition they would watch our film because, the audience will be attracted to the type of genre it is because they will like a thriller as it will give the audience a better liking of thriller films and a good look at would we have produced.

Why would they carry on watching after the initial 2 minute opening?

They would carry on watching because it would make the excited as they want to watch more on what is going to happen to the man, so they have to carry on watching and can get enough information as they can so identify what is going to happen next or guess what is going to happen. Lastly they would carry on watching as this movie starts with action at the begin and will finish on a high as it is interesting to watch. Moreover they will keep on watching the film because they have to find out what has happened to the person that has been taken away and why the visions are occurring.  Lastly they would keep on watching our film as they have to keep on track what visions have been occurring and what has happened during the time he is having the film.

Audience Research and Focus Group. Rough Cut.

Audience Research

This is focus group that we had organised, they have given us feedback on how to improve our rough cut of our film. We had asked them questions on what was wrong with our rough cut.

During that time they had given us feedback on what was wrong with the opening of our film and the feedback was:

  • The film was too long which may make it a bit boring for them to watch.
  • They had said that the film was to hard to understand on whats going on in the film.
  • In addition they thought that we were walking to much as there was barely any action in the film.
  • The said the sound wasn't good enough because the wind was cancelling the sound, also we hadn't added in music.
  • The also mentioned that the acting wasn't that good, because the focus group had mentioned that we were talking normally.
  • The also mentioned the weather as we had filmed in the middle of January.

I agree with this feedback from the focus group because the opening film was to long due to the fact we had added more things which we didn't have to add, furthermore the were right about the sound because we had to add sound to make it more tense. In addition we could have improved the acting by being more serious.

We can take the feedbacks and make the film better by cutting the film down and make it more interesting by adding more tense scene in it, furthermore we going to improve this by making sure that the audience can understand what is going on in the film. Plus we are going to add sound to make it more tense and cutting down the noise from the wind.

Studio Ident Analysis

Studio Ident Analysis

There are many companies in the film industries that have a idents tat represents there own company that they have created.  There are many companies that have there own idents for example the companies names are:

  • Disney
  • Paramount
  • Warner Brothers
  • Universal
and there are many more idents but i shall be going through these 4 idents that i have mentioned above.

Disney:

This ident above is Walt Disney this ident shows us that as it begins it is aimed at the sky with a star showing us that they are aiming high, in addition as it goes on we see a river with high hills which may indicate that they are aiming far. Plus as we go on we see a flag and as it keeps going we see fireworks start going off means that they are exciting and shows that they want people to be attracted with bright colours going off. Lastly as that happens we see the whole castle with a something bright goes around the caste showing that it is special.

Paramount

This is Paramount ident, this ident shows a the clouds with stars coming towards and passing us and going around the mountain. The mountain may indicate that they are aiming high as the mountain is high above the clouds which also shows that they may be a really big company. Furthermore the stars that go around the mountain may suggest that they are special because lots of stars go around the mountain.

Warner Brothers

The Warner Brothers ident indicates that they had started normal by showing factories and then showing s shine of the ident, furthermore as that happens the ident shows that they are in sky which shows that they are bigger than everybody else and showing that they are best of the companies.

Universal

The Universal ident shows as it starts  it shows the world, which may implies that they are out of the world and as the sign comes in the lights of the countries start to turn on, which shows that they light everybody up because they suggest that they make sure that the audience like them by turing there lights on.

Opening Title sequence

Opening Title Sequence

This clip below of Man of Steel shows the title sequence goes through out the film as our film does. This shows that our film has the same outcome of Man of Steel as the title sequence is the same as it shows from the opening part of the film.

In our film it is the same as it goes through out the film so the audience will know who has done what instead of putting it at the end because the audience may leave and stop the film at the end because normally people don't like watching the credits at the end of the film.

Title Sequence (order)

Title Sequence

This is our title sequence which we had put in the film and who it was done by:

Production Ident

A film by- Jordan Walters

Starring- Jordan Walters
               Hassan Kawshar
               Parveer Mahal
               Sophie Hawkins

Edited By- Parveer Mahal

Cinematography- Hassan Kawshar

Script By- Jordan Walters

Produced By- Hassan Kawshar
                       Parveer Mahal

Directed By- Jordan Walters

Title.

This is the order that will be in our film, also it goes in a hierarchy as the producers and the director go at the end of the beginning of the film.

Choosing your font

Choosing your Font.

We had used three different types of fonts in our short film so it can make our film more interesting and did not come of word or powerpoint. We had used dafont to make our titles because it has a better  variety of writing types to make our title.

We had used three different types of fonts and they were:
  • Last day of earth
  • Neuorpol
  • Zebra
These fonts made our movie more interesting and gives the audience a better look and so they can see that it is not boring and dull.

This picture above shows our production name and the the type of writing we had used. The type of writing we had used was Last day of earth. This shows that this type of writing is bold and gives a mix of what the film is going to be about.

Furthermore this picture above shows the other type of writing which we had used and that was neuropol. This type of writing shows that this film may be different as the writing was used, in addition this had writing was going through out the film as is it shows who has done what in the film.

This last type of writings called zebra, this gave the title a better view of what the film is about and giving the audience what the film a better writing than the dull word writing.

Speed Of Editing

Speed Of Editing

There are different types of speed editing there is fast paced, medium paced and slow paced editing. SO in a fast paced editing it has lots of shots in a minute for example in bourne ultimatum they had used many shots in one minute as it has lots of different shots because it is a action film, however in a horror movie they will use slow paced editing as they are keeping the same shot for a long period of time. Furthermore they use it mostly through out the film as they keep it in the same position for a long period of time.

In action film they will put lots of shots in a couple of minutes as they want to put all the action into one   in this, however if you have a slow paced editing is the shot goes on for a long period of time.

In this clip above shows when Matt Damon as Jason Bourne is trying to find the bad guy, so as that part happens there are lots of shots which are fast as the start to fight. This shows that this movie uses speed of editing as it a action film and the have started to fight.

Finding Music

Finding Music

We had found different types of music which fit well in our short thriller opening movie. We had used two different types of music which give the audience a chill when it comes on as they try and suspect what is going on in our thriller, furthermore it also gives the audience what is going t happen when the music plays and gives them a intense feeling where the music is playing and why is it playing in that part of the short opening scene. In addition we had used different websites to find the right music and they were youtube and free sfx. These websites gave us a variety of music to choose from but we had picked two which go perfectly into our film.

As you can see above i had used free sfx and went to the category mysterious and had chosen danger zone as it gives us a intense music. This is type of music gives us a better view of what is happening, furthermore danger zone gives a mysterious way of showing that they may might be the people behind it.

This is a piece of David Lynch's instrumental this gives us a good dynamic of music and gives a chilly feeling when it starts to play, furthermore this type of music has a better intense music than the others.   We had found this piece of music on youtube.

Continuity Editing

Continuity Editing

Continuity editing is when you film through out the film with no jump cuts, furthermore this also consists of having the same costume and props through out the film. For example one scene is when they have to wear a blue shirt and then you cannot wear a different shirt they will have to start the film back to the start and film from the beginning. Furthermore continuity editing uses different types of techniques and they are:

  • Diegetic Sound
  • Match on action
  • Ellipsis
  • 180 degrees rotation
and there are many more different types of techniques which can be used in continuity editing.

Match on action is when you record a shot in one room and follow through by shooting in a different room. For example if you have someone recording somebody leaving a room and you see them open the door you go to the other side of the door and record them leaving without having any jump cuts in the middle of it, so this has to run in a continuos flow.

This clip above shows a women coming in and going through books then she takes the book opens it and we see what she is reading by a different shot and then another shot looking at her and the book.

180 degree rotation rule is when you start at one side of a conversation and the rotate 180 degrees to the other side and see the conversation at the part, this means that they have to do this regularly every time that one person speaks and o it the other side when the other person speaks.

In this clip above this shows that this movie called the shining uses the 180 degrees rule, however they have broke the 180 degree rule due to the fact that they want to confuse the audience by making them realise what is going on in the film.

Rough Cut

Rough Cut

This is a out rough cut of our movie, as you can see blow the move goes onto be 4 minutes and 45 seconds on. This insured us to cut done below three minutes, this will make the opening scene better as it will just have the most interesting bits in the film. Furthermore it also will indicate that as it goes on for a long period of time, so the audience may find it boring and may not like certain bits as it may have boring scene which are irrelevant as the opening scene should show the audience what they really want is to be thrilled and be excited. Furthermore this rough cut is not accurate as we still had to add dramatic music to build the tense up and make the audience know what is coming.

This rough cut has not got the aspects foe our final piece, because this rough cut has a lot of mistakes which we have made during the time we had filiming.
