Psycho
Psycho is a thriller made by Alfred Hitchcock, this movie is about a women called Marion who works in a office is fed up with the life she is living in, in addition during her lunch breaks she meets up with her love called Sam they cannot get married due to Sam is all ready married and the divorce will show that the person he is married to will take half of the things he owns.
During her work time on a Friday Marion is trusted by her employer to put $40,000 in the bank for, however she is seeing a different way to take the money and start a new life of her own. So she leaves the town and starts to head to Sams store which is in California, as it was a long journey and a storm comes she has stopped at a place called The Bates Motel. This hotel is managed by a young man who is called Norman who is dominated by his mother as Marion doesn't know that. Hitchcock had thought that if the film was roughly about $40,000 he would think that a murder would become a shock, this makes the audience shocked for the rest of the film. As well the audience will realise that there would be murder in the film but have no idea when it would be or would she or he kill someone.
The threat from this film is a mentally ill man. This thriller is also packed with action and fast paced. The examples would be when Norman attacks Marion in the shower, this shows that this is fast paced because it happens so quickly, also when the detective goes up the stairs and get stabbed in the head by a woman, this is fast paced and packed with action.
There are two different types of heroes, the first is Norman because it shows that he has killed the woman who had taken the money for herself, however the other heroes are Sam and Marion sister who come and tell the police officers that he is the man who and murdered the man.
Alfred Hitchcock represents Norman in different ways, first he shows Norman to be a charming man who is flirting with Marion as the are sitting and eating, however he shows Norman is nervous as he keep suturing and keeps on moving his hands this shows that he is presented in different types of ways.
In this thriller they use different types of suspense, red herring and cliffhangers . Hitchcock use suspense by introducing a horror type of music as Norman has entered Marion room and when he starts to stab her when she is in the shower.
Hitchcock wanted to show the audience how it like to be in the thriller by giving them as much detail as they can in the movie and they want them to experience what they are felling in the movie.
As they have watched psycho or talk about it they refer to the shower scene due to the fact that they think about how great they had created that scene, in addition this scene was one of the greatest ever in film making history. The shower scene gives the audience the imagination of what power the viewers would have.
